A Romantic Agony

Forever in the state of romantic agony

How do I show, what I see

How do I tell, what I know

What should I do, to show you my world

A world bound by my rules of no rules

Will you shatter it or recreate it

If, I gave you the key,

Will it still be the same the way I left it?

Or will it be molded by your perception

What would you seek there - your impression? image?

Would you like it if I showed you the crudeness of my truth

Will you come back if you see what you do not like

The grossness of darkness, of blindness,

Will it astound you, that I am just another human

Not good enough

Will the words of love reach you

Before it is blotted in the murky ink of suspicion and speculation?

Trotting your way uphill, through the darkness

Will, you ever doubt, I hadn't followed you

Into your darkest hour

Had I the chance and had you yours,

Shall we be together,

 For fate and destiny,

Are just another excuse of an unresolved mind.

While you were sleeping

While you were sleeping ,

I stole away those precious moments of carefree rest

While you were sleeping,

The innocence  of your face,

The vulnerability of your being,

I stole it

And while you were still sleeping  my world suddenly changed!

A man who had no name!

Was he a man , did he exist?

No one knew, and no one cared.

In the early wee hours of the morning

The nameless man was all he could be wearing

Interrupted from his sleep by nature's call.

He neither had the luxury nor the leisure

Of a toilet to absolve his needs

He relieved himself each day on the railway tracks

After the fast disappearing forest or the corner bush

Which once provided him a cover of his modesty

One morning fate decided to take a tumble

After his ablutions done he ventured a little further

Off the road, where lay a carcass of a cow

Before his curiosity knew better, few men

Passing by,  shouted and branded him

“Killer-Murderer of my holy cow”

People gathered and he was a carcass himself

The violence triggered some more violence

Actions to reactions and reactions to the action followed

In the end, there were carcasses everywhere

Some said they were Hindus and some Muslims

Who knew who was who

In death, they were all "It"

“It”, just another carcass,

I wonder did it bother the “it's”

If they were burnt or buried,

Not a wink of sleep

Not a wink, not a wink  of sleep,

Yet, in our minds  we are all asleep

In our hearts, we are but,

A dangerous mob, ever ready to persecute

The poet,   for blasphemy,

The heretics, who dare see

 Nonsense in rituals and intolerance,

Insanity and rationality in religion

Not a wink, not a wink of sleep

For the love of a humanity,

We sacrifice human

In our hunger and lust for power

We die different deaths everyday

And a little less we live everyday

We fear too much and too little

Do we reflect,

We do not like, the innovators

Who astounds our understanding

When we fail to weigh our words

For all that sleep let me take one eternal

Dive into the great ignorance and awaken

Our minds so that I may sleep a wink!

Sand castles

Our love was shallow,
So we had to swallow our pride.
It had not been the best thing to fight for,
So we stopped fighting.

We knew better when we had been in love.
Met at the crossroads of such difficult times,
who knew we were looking right into the mirror.

The reflection reflected who we truly were
Despite, what we thought of ourselves.
It wasn't sad nor was it all gay.

Moments slipped by becoming years
What we did was build our castle on sands.
True to its nature, it could have either suffocated us or fly away with the wind.

Strangely, it did both, trapped us briefly
Before the wind could take it all away.
Somewhere we realised, the truth was outside.

We couldn't lock ourselves for long.

When all had been said and done

there was still you and there was still me
but there was no us but the sand!
